Kids Programs at SPL
Calm Time
Sensory-Friendly Calm Time is every Thursday morning from 10 AM – 11 AM in the Children’s Department. What is Sensory-Friendly Library Time? It’s a calm time in the library to provide a quiet browsing experience for neurodivergent visitors and those with sensory needs. During this dedicated hour, we create a low-stimulus environment with dimmed lighting and reduced noise. All are welcome to join us in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
Story Times:
- All programs at 11:00 am
- Lapbabies & Toddlers Ages 0 – 3: Tuesdays
- Preschoolers Ages 4 – 5: Wednesdays
STEM Club:
- Mondays, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
- Work together with you friends to complete a challenge: build a bridge, design a parachute, and so much more! We’ll provide the challenge–you bring the creativity.
- Best for ages 7 and up.
Crafternoon:
- Thursdays, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
- Join us for a relaxing afternoon of crafts! There will be a new craft every week.
- Best for ages 5 and up.
LEGO Club:
- Monthly on Saturdays, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Check the calendar for dates.
- Bring your friends and create something wonderful with our LEGO collection!
- Best for ages 3 and up.
Teens & Tweens:
Teen Art Club:
- Tuesdays, 4:30 – 5:30 pm
- Drop in & create with other teens! Organized and run by club president, Emma Glennon (age 16), you can bring your current art project or just ideas and the library will provide the supplies! Ages 13 – 18
Middle Grade Book Club:
Led by Miss Rachel, this middle grade book club explores all genres. Participants will pick up a reserved copy of the book we’re reading and then meet on future Saturday to discuss the book, plus do activities related to the narrative, to enrich and create a deeper understanding of the story. Participants have This club is for ages 9 – 13. Registration is required by email to rachel@sheplibrary.org.
Middle School Math Club:
This weekly program is for 6th – 8th Graders and will feature math games and practice. This club is in collaboration with the Jefferson County Math Circle and the National Math Club. It’s led by Coaches – Judy York and Kathy Buchanan. Register by email to rachel@sheplibrary.org
