Our Library
The Shepherdstown Public Library is proud to be part of a consortium made up of 9 local libraries. All libraries within the consortium share resources and our interlibrary loan system extends throughout the entire state of West Virginia and beyond. Our patrons frequently use our resource network to obtain those fiction and non-fiction works which might not be readily available in our current collection. We also offer free use of a full range of audiobooks, e-books, periodicals, newspapers, and reference books.
Our digital resources continue to grow and most can be accessed through the Libby app. Coming soon is a new addition to our digital resources lineup: Kanopy, a streaming platform with an incredible library of content, including award-winning films, documentaries, and educational videos. Whether you’re looking for thought-provoking indie films, insightful documentaries, or engaging educational content for all ages, Kanopy has something for everyone.
Our computer network provides free internet access, and we are a designated wireless hotspot. Our library patrons are able to access over 26 online databases, language-learning software and hundreds of online reference materials — all free! Copy, fax and notary services, as well as voter registration and seasonal tax forms are also available.
The Shepherdstown Public Library is well-known for its free programming for all ages. Visit our calendar to see what’s coming up! Our regularly scheduled programming includes weekly Story Times, Meditation, Sip and Stitch, STEM Club, Crafternoon, and more.
Our Mission
Our primary mission is to promote literacy and provide a valuable service to the community. Our experienced staff and our dedicated volunteers and Board of Trustees are always available to serve you! We are also pleased and proud to acknowledge our continuing affiliation with Friends of the Shepherdstown Library (FOSL), a local organization devoted to raising awareness and funding for the library.
