Aim to read 10-12 full-length books with 100 or more pages. Then rate your books on your reading log! |

Turn in your completed reading log by August 15, 2023 to collect your reward: a booklet of coupons from Shepherdstown businesses. Reading logs can be turned in at any of our library programs.
Weekly Story Times: 11:00 am in the Children’s Library

Summer Activities Kick-Off Party: Saturday, June 3 | 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
This party starts the Shepherdstown Library’s summer activities with outdoor games (minigolf, ladder ball, & more!), tie-dye, button-making, snow cones, popcorn, & an intro to our summer reading program! Best for ages 3+
Jefferson County Math Circle: Tuesdays | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm May 30 – August 29
For rising 6th – 8th graders. Join Math Club Coach Judy York and Youth Director Rachel Heller for weekly math games & activities. There will be online resources for practicing at home. Math Club is part of the national program MathCounts. Participants are not required to attend every meeting. Sign-up is required**
Teen Microscopy Program: Saturday, June 10 | 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Led by Steven Cummings, NIH chemical & biomolecular engineer. Teens will learn how to use microscopes, distinguish between plant and animal cells, and discover microorganisms in the local watershed. For ages 13-18 only. Sign-up is required**
Fairies Read: Saturday, June 17 | 11:00 am
Join Emma Casale for a stories and a special craft all for lovers of fairies and fantasy. Emma organized the last year’s Shepherdstown Fairy Festival. For ages 5+ only. Sign-up is Required**
Indoor Planetarium: Thursday, June 29 – Saturday, July 1
The Shepherdstown Library will have its very own indoor planetarium from NASA StarLab. Stop by for a exploration into the stars! Best for ages 5+
Falconry Event: Wednesday, July 5 | 3:00 pm
Colin Waybright, master class falconer, from Laurel Fork Falconry will be showing off his expertise with this indoor program. Come learn about these amazing birds! Best for ages 5+
Story Quilts & Story Time: Friday, July 14th | 11:00 am
Shepherdstown Elementary Art teacher Amanda Groff will lead a very special story time about story quilts! She’ll read Tar Beach and you’ll make a paper quilt that will be displayed in the library. Best for ages 3+
Human-Beaver Coexistence Alliance: Monday, July 10 | 11:00 am
Learn about beaver habitats and how people can live in harmony with these amazing animals. Program is run by Alison Zak, founder of the HBCA. Best for ages 5+
Family Yoga: Saturday, July 15 | 1:00 pm
Come for a fun hour of yoga with Whitney Ingram of Ebb & Flow Adventures. For kids ages 7+ and their caregivers. Just bring a towel or mat!
Kevin Sherry’s Wild Imagination: Saturday, July 29 | 11:00 am
Author/Illustrator Kevin Sherry (“The Yeti Files”) shares his creative mix of songs, art, and stories. Best for ages 3+
